Snowboard Haute Route

This is a Haute route week (Chamonix- Zermatt) on snowboard! Everyone in the group is snowboarding. Even the guide.

We travel, over 7 days, on splitboards with climbing skins.

Below is a week program. The route may be changed due to mountain conditions and personal preference.

Chamonix

Welcome meeting and equipment check in Chamonix.

Chamonix

Ski tour in Chamonix and equipment test. We train you in avalanche- and crevasse rescue techniques. We spend the night in Chamonix.

Chamonix > Trient hut

We start early from Chamonix and catch a bus to Argentiere where we take a telecabin to Les Grands Montets 3296 m. After about 1000 vertical metres skiing to the Argentiere glacier we put on skins and climb up to Col du Passon (3028 m) and continue to the Swiss border and to the Trient hut 3170 m.

A hard start with 1000 m of downhill skiing and 1200 m of climbing.

About 7 hours.

Trient hut > Prafleuri hut

The day starts with a long ski run to Champex where we take a transfer to Le Chable and continue the route to the Prafleuri hut (2624 m) via Verbier. We climb Rosablanche (3336 m) if the conditions are right.

2300m downhill and 700 m climbing.

About 6 hours.

Prafleuri hut > Dix hut

We climb the Col des Roux (2804 m) before we descend to Lac des Dix and continue to Dix hut 2928 m.

450m downhill and 800m climbing.

About 5 hours.

Dix hut > Vignette hut

If the conditions are right we climb Pigne d´Arolla (3790 m) before we ski to the Vignette hut 3160 m.

700m downhill and 900m climbing.

About 5 hours.

Vignette hut > Bertol hut

From the hut we ski down to the Mont Collon glacier and climb up to Col de l´Eveque 3382 m. After that we ski to Plans de Bertol and climb up to the Bertol hut 3311 m.

1000 m downhill and 1180 m climbing.

About 6 hours.

Bertol > Zermatt > Chamonix.

We start the day with a descent to the Mont Miné glacier and skin up to 3600 m before we ski down to Zermatt by 3 different glaciers. A great descent under the north face of the Matterhorn.

2100 m downhill and 400 m climbing.

About 4 hours.

After arrival and a bit of rest in Zermatt we catch a transfer to Chamonix where we spend the night.
